Its almost a gap of 2 1/2  years Im getting an opportunity to listen to Aishwarya. Last time was at Music Academy where I felt it time slot provided was an injustice to her talent.

In today's concert, she indeed demonstrated that she can deliver a  2 1/2 hr concert with utmost ease.

The concert had a completeness touch. Each kriti either had a detailed alapana / a rAga sketch before the start.

She demonstrated a fantastic control and command over the raga and that was evident while she was singing swaras for bilahari. maNirangu alapane and song enthralled the audience which was a sub main piece

After the mAkElara filler with brisk swaras came the grand rAga kIravANi essay .. which was simply Stupendous.. A right mix of melkala prayogams and jaarus made the raga essay an interesting one. During the course of nereval and swaras, which was appropriately presented by the team.

Though I'm not a koravai expert, the presentation was pretty interesting. The percussion artists took over the dias into an energitic tani. Enjoyable tani was delivered by Manjunath and Bhargava Halambi Kanjira. The concert concluded with a sholoka in nIlAmbari, Anandabhairavi and Yamuna Kalyani sliding into Sri rAmachandra kripalu.., a devarnama in nAdanAmakriya and mangala

Im hearing Aditi on violin for the first time. She has a lot of potential and has to work on the brisk swara playing where I felt it was a bit scratchy . overall she did manage to give able support.

Percussionist were at their best as usual.

A Pause… and a Return

A Pause… and a Return There is something deeply musical about silence. In Carnatic music, we celebrate the aarohana —the ascent, the rise,...
